The Alpha Course
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening, but thought-provoking way. Each week looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run across the world, and everyone's welcome. It takes place in lots of different settings - cafés, churches, universities, homes, and many more! No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: food, a talk or video, and good conversation.
We run a Course each autumn and sometimes at other times of the year, usually on a weekday evening for nine or ten weeks. Our Spring 2020 Course begins on Thursday 23 January, kicking off with a meal, a glass of wine and a chat, followed by a brief presentation about what will be covered on the Course. The Course itself starts on 30 January and runs weekly until early April. We start with a meal each week, then there's a short talk or video followed by discussion in small groups.
You can find out more about Alpha here. For many people in our church, taking part has been a really important way of finding faith or coming back to faith.

The Marriage Course
The Marriage Course aims to help couples grow closer and build a healthy relationship that will last for a lifetime. It’s designed for all couples, however long or short a time they’ve been together, and whether they feel they already have a strong relationship or are struggling. While the course is based on Christian principles, it’s designed for couples with or without a Christian faith. Many couples who aren’t churchgoers have commented that the Christian content was presented in a way that didn’t make them feel at all uncomfortable.
We run this six week course periodically. Each evening starts with coffee and dessert, followed by a talk on the theme for the evening. You will then spend the rest of the time talking with each other as a couple about things relating to the theme. During the Course you will think and talk about building strong foundations, the art of communication, resolving conflict, the power of forgiveness, the impact of family, intimacy and love in action. Your discussion will be private to you, and there won’t be any group work. While there may be some homework to do, to help you build on what you’ve learnt and to give you the opportunity to apply it to your relationship, no-one else will see it and it’s just for your benefit.
