The toolbox

And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper
(Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, Counsellor, Strengthener, Standby),

I recently visited my dad, and he has the most amazing toolbox. In this toolbox, there are over 30 different screwdriver heads to cover every possible need and a screwdriver that can bend around corners to get to those hard-to-reach places, not to mention the tool to prise open things that are stuck together, and the magnetic board to keep a hold of all the screws. This toolbox laughs in the face of breakage! Whatever happens, with this toolbox you are equipped and ready!

As I've spent time with God, I've noticed that while sometimes He might answer my prayers directly, more often He will give me the tools I need to work through the problem myself. Maybe He gives me a dose of compassion, or a bit of insight into what's causing trouble, or perhaps He'll give me some patience. And, of course, He has given me a lived example in Jesus to learn from, the Bible to give me clues, and His Holy Spirit to help, comfort and counsel me.

With God by my side, the challenges of life don't seem quite so daunting. Do you need to look inside God's toolbox today? I'll bet He has just the tool to help you.
 
A prayer - Lord God, thank you that you are there and ready to help. Sometimes I feel helpless in the situations life throws at me.  Help me to look out for the tools You are giving me.
