God is good … All the time

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness
(Lamentations 3:22,23) 

Some of you may know that over the past few years I have started to knit again and that it has slowly become a passion of mine. It takes me quite a long time and, as I have grown in knowledge, this had led to an increase in recognising mistakes. Often there will be a big sigh and a realisation that I am going to have to undo what I have done and start again. 
 
As I have been thinking about this, I have come to see that this is often what my relationship with Jesus is like. As I have grown in my faith, I see ways that Jesus wants to undo some of my behaviours to make me more like him. Everyday I need to start again, trusting that Jesus wants only good things for me.
 
As Anne of Green Gables* said “Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?” Jesus loves us so much that, to have a relationship with us, he died on the cross and because of Jesus, God doesn’t require our perfection. However you are feeling today, remember that Jesus loves you and that he is so excited to have a relationship with you.
 
Prayer - Lord Jesus, thank you that you are with us all the time and that you love to have a relationship with us. Lord, help us to trust in your forgiveness and know that your compassion never fails and your faithfulness is great. Amen.
