Your word ...
I don’t know about you, but it feels to me as if we are living in a time of uncertainty and confusion. We are constantly surrounded by issues such as the high cost of living, wars around the world and whether Covid can ever be something we can just live with.
The famous words of Mary - “may your word to me be fulfilled” - have really made me think about how I am reacting to all this stress and I wonder how it makes you feel this year too?
I think back to that first Christmas and that young virgin girl who had just been told she would give birth to a baby conceived by the Holy Spirit. I feel that her life had just been filled with uncertainty and confusion. This was a life changing proclamation. In the culture of the time, she would expect to be shunned. How could she do this to her family? Yet this young girl responds by saying - “I am the Lord’s servant, may your word to me be fulfilled.”
I am not trying to say that the struggles you may be going through aren’t incredibly hard, but what if we turn to Jesus and lean on him for our strength and support as Mary did? Mary’s trust in God didn’t make her life easy. But her faith and belief gave her the strength to live each day trusting in God’s will for her life.
Prayer - Heavenly Father, help us to have Mary’s faith as we wake each morning, to trust your will for our lives and know that you will be with us each moment of each day. Amen.
