Christingle
A Christingle service is the highlight of the Christmas season for many. A service for all ages with carols, prayers and a short talk, we are running this service twice on Christmas Eve to enable as many people as possible to come. We will be livestreaming the service here at 3.00pm on Christmas Eve and it will be available to watch from then onwards. If you would like to book a place to join with the service in person in church, click the button below.
There is no charge and booking via Eventbrite will open on Tuesday 1st December at 9am and close at midnight on 22nd December. Because numbers are limited, you will need to book a space including spaces for children. Please note that congregational singing is not currently allowed during the coronavirus pandemic. However, we will include carols and songs in our services for you to enjoy and listen to when you are in church. During the service, everyone will need to stay within their appropriate bubbles and, to comply with government regulations, adults will need to wear a face covering when you are in church.
As part of the service we will be making our own Christingles, so if you want to join in with this, you will need:
-
An orange, with a hole cut into the top
-
Red ribbon, or tape (and something to secure the ribbon to the orange)
-
A small candle to insert into the top of the orange, or a glow stick
-
Four cocktail sticks
-
Some sweets (Dolly mixtures, jelly sweets or mini marshmallows work well) and/or dried fruit to go onto the cocktail sticks, so they need to be soft enough to push the cocktail stick through!
If you are able to have those items on hand, we will take some time in the service to build our Christingles and think about what each part means!
