Church Plant

htbarnesIn October 2011 our church announced exciting plans to plant a church in the existing parish of Holy Trinity, Barnes. We had been reflecting on and praying about the possibility of a plant since autumn 2010, and while in the following year the journey had its ups and downs, it was very encouraging to see the way in which God led us to that stage. We spent the next year working towards planting the church in autumn 2012, with a huge amount of planning and preparation taking place before the launch.

At the time of the announcement we produced a special leaflet to explain our plans, which you can still read by clicking on this link. It tells the story of how the idea of a church plant had come out of what we believed God has called us to be and do as a church, and goes on to explain what church planting is, why we were doing it and what the impact would be for us as a church. It also included a personal message from David Cooke, who led this venture.

David was licensed by the Bishop of Southwark as Team Vicar of Holy Trinity Barnes on 20 September 2012.  Over 100 people attended the first service of the plant on Sunday 23 September and were treated to coffee and croissants as they arrived, something that has become a regular Sunday feature. The plant is now well established, and there have been many encouraging stories of people in Barnes and beyond arriving to join the plant and members of the existing congregation appreciating the new start for Holy Trinity.

Please continue pray for David and his team in the months ahead as they seek to build God’s Kingdom in North Barnes through developing ministry and mission there.
